Databases

We provide MySQL database service to support the web publishing service.  MySQL is an extremely popular SQL-based database management system (DBMS). In conjunction with the PHP scripting language, it is particularly popular in web applications.  Administration is via phpMyAdmin.

Registering for MySQL

Personal Publishing Database Registration

Personal MySQL database registration form (and/or personal web space form).

Registration should normally take place within three working days (it is usually less) and you will receive a confirmation by email.

Non-Personal Database Registration

Non-Personal MySQL database registration form.

Registration should normally take place within three working days (it is usually less) and you will receive a confirmation by email.

You will receive confirmation and the administration details by email but will need to collect your password from the IT Service Desk.

Version

We are currently running MySQL version 5.5.

Connecting to your MySQL database

The server name is database.ncl.ac.uk and your database name is the same as your username.
