SCONUL Access scheme
This allows Newcastle University members to access other university libraries. Academic staff, postgraduates and part-time, distance learning and placement undergraduates can borrow books from other universities. Full time undergraduates can use them for reference.Application form and more information
Please note that not all University libraries are a member of the scheme.
Before visiting the library check their opening hours and make sure you have the necessary identification with you, such as your University smartcard and SCONUL access card.
eduroam for Newcastle staff and students
What is eduroam?Eduroam is part of the national Janet Roaming Service (JRS) which allows staff and students to access internet services at participating institutions using your usual username and password.
What should I do to make sure I can use eduroam at another institution?
- You will need to configure your laptop according to the operating system you use. ISS has provided details for each, see here. You should do this before you leave Newcastle to check your setup.
- You can check if the institution you are visiting is participating in the eduroam scheme by checking on the Janet pages.
- Your eduroam logon will be your username with @ncl.ac.uk appended, e.g abcd@ncl.ac.uk and your normal Windows password.
- If you have difficulties whilst you are away from Newcastle, you should contact ISS at Newcastle and not that of the institution you are visiting
