Great North Museum: Hancock Library
This library is open to the public, and its holdings are being added to our own library catalogue. It contains the collections of the Natural History Society of Northumbria, the Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle upon Tyne, and the John Cowen library, which covers archaeology and ancient history.
Newcastle University staff and students may borrow items from the Cowen collection, and items from the other collections are available for reference.
Please note: items located in the Great North Museum Resource Centre need to be requested in advance and may take up to 48 hours to retrieve. To check book availability please contact the GNM Library.
Term time opening hours are:
Monday-Friday 10am - 4pm.
