Sixth Form Access Scheme

The University Library offers reference facilities to Sixth Form Schools and Sixth Form Colleges in the North East of England. We welcome students studying for A-Level, AS Levels and equivalents, during quiet times of the academic year.

Students can access the Library’s wide range of information ’s study spaces.

Access is available during staffed opening hours (see here for details) except for University exam periods.

In 2009/10 these excluded periods will be

  • 11th January - 22nd January 2010
  • 19th April - 11th June 2010
How to apply
Sixth Form Students should apply for access using the Sixth Form Access Form, which you can print from the University Library website at www.ncl.ac.uk/library/accessform.pdf

This form requires the signature of a teacher or librarian from your school to vouch that you are currently “in good standing” with your school. The completed from should be brought to the Robinson or Walton Library.

Other Details
  • Membership of the scheme expires at the end of the academic year (end of August)
  • Membership of the University Library is conditional upon observance of its Rules and Regulations (see website for details)
  • Admittance only on production of a valid Library Reference card
  • This card is not transferable
  • The Inter Library Loans service and some electronic services are not available with this membership scheme
