Commission of a Recycling Sculpture for the Robinson Library Foyer
We face many recycling issues on campus, one of which is laziness. Many people still put their waste in the landfill bins, instead of recycling - despite the new, easy to use bins and clear communications.
The Library Green Group has teamed up with the School of Arts and Cultures to highlight this issue. We are commissioning a sculpture made of materials that Library staff / students could have recycled, but didn't.
We are looking for students to volunteer their time and skills to produce the sculpture over the summer vacation. The volunteer work is unpaid, but materials will be provided. A team of students will be put together from the applicants to create an educational, yet striking piece of art. The sculpture will go on display in the Robinson Library foyer.
If you are interested in helping to create the sculpture, please email your name, contact details, degree programme, and why you want to be part of the team, to Jane Hagger, the Environmental Co-ordinator for the School of Arts and Cultures, at jane.hagger@ncl.ac.uk
Deadline for applications is Monday 16th April 2011.
