Major refurbishment of the Walton Library

Walton ReloadedThe Walton Library is currently being reconfigured and refurbished to offer a range of different study spaces, including eighty more study desks, and a new collaborative learning area with better cafe facilities.

The refurbishment continues until mid-September. During this time, the library will continue to offer:

  • Standard summer vacation opening hours
  • Access to Student Text Collection
  • Access to Dene and Glen Clusters
  • Access to a limited number of study rooms
  • Provision of approx. 100 study spaces
  • Borrowing, return and renewal of stock
  • Laptops for loan
  • Quiet study and stock access for resits in August

However, there will be the following restrictions:

  • No issuing of new smartcards - anyone needing a smartcard or experiencing any smartcard problems will need to go to the Philip Robinson Library
  • No access to long loan stock - requests made in advance or at the issue desk will be collected by Library staff who have access to the restricted area. Requests can be made in advance to medliaison@ncl.ac.uk
  • No cafe facilities
  • No card payments - cash only
