Open Access Support Officer

I promote and support open access at Newcastle University through activities including:

  • Communications to improve understanding of open access, particularly in light of the requirements for REF
  • Technical briefings, workshops and one to one support to help authors make their research outputs open access
  • Guidance on university systems to facilitate open access, including the e-prints repository
  • Monitoring and reporting on open access activity as required by the university and research funders


Research Interests

Open access, open data, science communications, the web and educational technologies.

Other Expertise

My Ph.D. and post-doctoral research was based on the development of an HIV vaccine through screening of random peptide display libraries against neutralising antibodies.
