Darwin Reading Group

This year, the Centre for Behaviour and Evolution at Newcastle University is organising another Darwin Reading Group.

We will be reading the Descent of Man (plus two chapters from "Selection in relation to sex").

We will use the second edition because this is the most popular one. You can buy the book at a reasonable price from Amazon (£8.41, free delivery) or from Blackwell's at a slightly higher price.

Please note: If you are a University member, you can also search Library Search and borrow a copy from the University Library.

If you have a different edition it should not be a problem. Chapter sequence may differ in different versions, so we've added the titles of the chapters, to the programme listing, as well as their numbers to avoid confusion.

Meetings will take place every other Tuesday (see here) at 4pm (in the Committee Room, Robinson Library) and at 7:30 at the Literary and Philosophical Society (in their Committee room).

The same material will be discussed, so it's enough to attend only one of these sessions, whichever is most convenient for you.

If you are interested in attending, just show up to one of the sessions. Please come prepared to discuss the material by having read the relevant chapters.

Best wishes
Tom Smulders & Karolina Sylwester.
