Major database services that the Library provides include ProQuest databases, EBSCO, Education databases, FirstSearch, LION, Medline, Ovid, Scopus and Web of Knowledge

Databases contain large amounts of data which can be either bibliographical references to journal articles, books, conferences, theses, reports and other sources of information, or the full text. The data is indexed and is searched and displayed by using a computer.

The Library provides access to most databases through the ISS PC clusters and other PCs attached to the campus network. Access off-campus is available via the RAS. A few databases are only available from standalone PCs within the Library.

To view the databases select a option from the menu to the left.

Please note that the use of some databases is restricted to staff and registered students of the University of Newcastle. A list of these restricted databases is available.
