Use your own e-book reader

If you own an e-book reader, you may also be able to use it to read Library resources. We recommend that you link to resources using your own PC or laptop, rather than a cluster PC whenever possible, to avoid any conflict in registering the reader.

  • Most e-book readers can read pdf files, so you will be able to download electronic journal articles and e-books which are presented as pdf (such as the Knovel collection)
  • If your reader uses the EPUB format (all Sony Readers) you will also be able to download books from EBook Library (EBL) and Netlibrary.
  • Readers which use the mobipocket format (eg the Kindle, Bebook, Cybook) can download in pdf format as well, but may not be able to use the EPUB resources.
We are still experimenting with a range of e-book readers and would appreciate your comments and feedback on your own personal experiences with your e-reader so that we can expand these pages.
