Student text bookings

The Student Texts Collection (STC) is a collection of library materials in heavy demand or defined as essential course reading, usually recommended by academic staff. There are Student Text Collections on Level 2 in the Robinson Library, and also in the Walton and Law Libraries.

These are popular items and can only be borrowed for a maximum of four hours (less if the item has been booked by another reader - Robinson only) - always check your receipt for the due date and time.

Overnight loans allowed:

  • Monday - Thursday after 6pm
  • Friday after 5pm
  • Saturday - Sunday after 4pm

You may borrow a maximum of three items and book a maximum of two items.

Why book an item in the Student Texts Collection (Robinson Library only)?

Booking an item allows you to reserve it for a particular time to then loan it for four hours (or overnight, see above).

To book an item in the STC login to Library Search and follow the Booking link next to the item you are looking for. For more detailed instructions go to Library Help.

Overdue charges

There is an immediate overdue charge of £1 plus £1 per hour or part hour after that. Items from this collection cannot be renewed.

Self-issue/return

Robinson Library has a self-service unit in the STC so you can issue your own books (either STC or General loans).

Walton Library has a self-service unit in the STC room for the return of STC items only.

Please remember to take the receipt from the machine which shows the date and time the book is due back. All STC books should be returned on the unit in the STC (not on other self-issue/return units in the library).
