Catherine Cookson

The exhibition for October/November 1998 was called "Catherine Cookson D.B.E., M.A., D.Litt. (1906-1998). In memoriam",

and was mounted as a mark of gratitude for Dame Catherine's generosity to the Robinson Library over many years. It included some material she gave to the Library during her lifetime, such as examples of her novels in English and translated into various languages, as well as pages from corrected typescripts of two of her works. Also on display were photographs of a visit she made to the Library in 1985, together with presentation volumes, covering her many interests, given to her after conservation work by the Conservation Unit in the Library's Bindery.
