Water of Tyne

These Special Collections items about Newcastle's river describe part of the history of the Tyne's waters, telling of bridges, floods, commercial disputes, the coal trade, conservatorship and pollution - until, finally, a cleaner river looks ahead to the future.

Much of the material was selected from a substantial collection of local material bequeathed to the Library by Dr Edwin Clarke.
