Using our Collections in your Teaching Sessions

We encourage academic staff to include us in general and tailored teaching sessions using our collections and specialist staff. This includes:

  • How to find and use relevant archives and rare books here.
  • How to find relevant archives and rare books elesewhere.
  • Research skills in interpreting archives and rare books, including planning research trips, understanding context, palaeography, and source analysis.

Please complete our teaching request form to arrange a session.

Career Development Module Placements

Each year we offer a limited amount of placements within Special Collections as part of the University's Career Development Module. If you have a student who might be interested they can either contact us or visit the CDM webpage.

Using our Collections in your Research

We actively seek to engage with and collaborate on research projects, particularly within the University.

If you feel our collections or staff can contribute, please contact us to discuss.

Using our Collections for Engagement

As a Civic University, we want all staff to be able to use collections as an example of what we can offer as a long established and world class learning institution. This includes using the University Archive to celebrate our shared history and institutional memory, and engaging with young people though our Education Outreach programme.

If you would like to discuss potential projects and what we can provide, please contact us.

Digitisation and Copying for Teaching and Research Purposes

Use of copies of material from our Collections for teaching and research purposes is permitted under copyright legislation, including in ReCap and on Blackboard.

If you would like to order copies of any of our Special Collection holdings, please use our Digitisation and Copy Request Form.  If you would like to charge your order to your School or Service, please remember to include your Purchase Order Number.
