Who can use Special Collections
Members of Newcastle University
All student and staff members of Newcastle University are
entitled to have access to Special Collections.
Members of other universities
Researchers who are affiliated to other universities have
consultation rights but are asked to make an appointment
with Special Collections at least
2 days before their intended visit.
External Users
External users can consult Special Collections materials
regardless of whether they are affiliated to an educational
institution or not. They are asked to make an appointment
through Special Collections at
least 2 days prior to their visit, and should be
prepared to provide a permanent address and some form
of identification.

Disabled access
Disabled users are welcome to use Special Collections materials.
Level 1 is accessible by lift and the Reading Room can
accomodate wheelchair users. While the use of book rests,
etc. may not be ideal for disabled users, staff will always
be happy to assist as far as they are reasonably able.
