This Catholic Book of Hours (devotions and prayers) is printed on vellum and dates from 1528. The binding is brown cloth with a blue velvet spine. There is a metal centrepiece, four metal cornerpieces and a single (functioning) ornamental metal clasp - the hasp is designed like an arm and catches on the back cover. It has three raised bands and gilt edges. It measures approximately 12 x 7 cm: duodecimo (12o) - a smaller than average book.
The item belongs to the Robinson Collection (bequeathed in 1998 by Marjorie Robinson, widow of antiquarian bookseller, Philip).
