The aim of the project, which ran from 2004-2006, was to provide Schools throughout the University with a suite (toolkit) of interactive learning activities relating to information literacy that can be integrated seamlessly with their curricular provision. In this way it was proposed to embed information literacy development firmly on the learning agenda, the Library working in partnership with academic Schools, CAD and SDU.
Project benefits
- The Library would have a demonstrably coherent approach to the delivery of information literacy across the curriculum and to all levels of undergraduate and postgraduate student, providing a more efficient way of developing information literacy.
- The project would create a learning environment in which students will develop life-long and transferable information literacy skills.
- Academic staff will have available a mechanism by which they can integrate IL skills into their teaching.
- A toolkit of learning activities both within Blackboard and through other means that address the information literacy needs of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Guidelines for individual Schools as to the most effective way of utilizing the toolkit.
- Guidelines for Library staff to allow them to support both students and staff in the use of the toolkit.
