Organising information

It is very important to be able to reference your academic work correctly and consistently. There are many different referencing styles and even though you will usually only need to use one style while you are studying at Newcastle University it can be difficult to remember the format and layout for different types of resources. However, there are software tools available to help you with this; they are called reference management tools.

Even though we only offer support for EndNote, you can choose to use any tool you wish; here are some resources to help you:

  1. Download the Reference Management tools handout to help you decide which one to use
  2. Here at Newcastle University we support EndNote reference management software. Take a look at the EndNote Guide for more information.
  3. Learn about using Endnote online. From the Endnote Web Guide you can try the Endnote Quick-start Guide or download the Endnote work book and teach yourself how to use it
  4. Try the EndNote jigsaw game
