House of Commons Papers

House of Commons Papers include reports and returns which have to be presented to the House under the provisions of Acts of Parliament: reports from government departments and reports of Standing and Select Committees.

The Library has a full set of House of Commons Papers from 1944/45 and some earlier including a complete microfiche set from 1801-1944/45.

Others can be traced from the Irish University Press and other printed lists ofParliamentary Papers located on the shelves labelled Government Publications Catalogues.

House of Commons Papers are not catalogued except where there is a second copy located in the Dewey sequence.

Current House of Commons Papers are arranged numerically in boxes in the Parliamentary Papers sequence until they are bound with Bills and Command Papers to form sessional volumes of Parliamentary Papers. It is important to know the sessional date when trying to trace these. They can be traced via UKOP and, once they have been bound, in the indexes to Parliamentary Papers. The full text of recent Select Committee reports is available from the UK Parliament web pages at http://www.parliament.uk.
