The Library subscribes to several electronic databases which can be used
to trace government publications. Some databases are more than just
indexes since they provide the full text of the documents covered. The
following is a list of the most useful ones.
UKOP (United Kingdom Official
Publications)
This catalogue, issued jointly by the Stationery Office and
Chadwyck-Healey, lists Stationery Office and departmental publications. It
is retrospective to 1980 and updated bi-monthly. UKOP is available on the
World Wide Web, http://www.ukop.co.uk/
House of Commons Hansard
This database contains the full text of the official report
of the House of Commons taken from the fortnightly bound
edition of Hansard. It includes debates, oral and written
questions and answers and division lists. The final archive
disk of each session also contains a subject index based
on the printed index found in the bound edition of the
House of Commons Hansard.
The database comprises one disk for each Parliamentary
Session, commencing with 1989/90 and ending in 2002 when
the Library's subscription ceased. It is available from
a stand alone pc on Level 4. House of Commons Hansard
is also available from the UK Parliament home page on
the Web, http://www.parliament.uk
or directly from http://www.parliament.uk/hansard/hansard.cfm
House of Lords Hansard
This database contains the full text of the official report
of the House of Lords taken from the fortnightly bound
edition of Hansard. It includes debates, oral and written
questions and answers and division lists. The final archive
disk of each session also contains a subject index based
on the printed index found in the bound edition of the
House of Lords Hansard.
The database comprises one disk for each Parliamentary
Session, commencing with 1989/90 and ending in 2002 when
the Library's subscription ceased. It is available from
a stand alone pc on Level 4. House of Lords Hansard is
also available from the UK Parliament home page on the
Web, http://www.parliament.uk

Index To The House Of Commons
Parliamentary Papers
This database is the first cumulative index of all House of Commons
Parliamentary Papers published from 1801 to 1995/1996. The index can
be used as a complementary index to Chadwyck-Healey's microfiche
Level 4 of the Robinson Library as well as an index to the printed papers
collection of Parliamentary Papers 1801-1944/45 which is available on
from 1801 to 1995/96. This database is available from a stand alone PC
on Level 4.
UNBIS PLUS
This database provides access to the United Nations Bibliographic
Information System in New York. In addition to being a catalogue of UN
documents it includes references to non-UN material acquired by the UN
Libraries in New York and Geneva, and contains speeches, the full text of
resolutions, voting information and a group of authority and reference files.
Unbis Plus is published in two parts, a retrospective file (up to 1992) and a
current file (from 1993 onwards) and is updated quarterly. It is available
from a stand alone pc on Level 4.
Census
The Library has an extensive collection of British Census Statistical
reports from 1801. The earliest reports are available in the Parliamentary
Papers microfiche collection on Level 4 and later reports are shelved at
GPS CEN in the Collection of Official Statistics on Level 4.
In addition, the
1991 Census Small Area Statistics for England and Wales are available in
CD-ROM format from a stand alone PC on Level 4.
Census information is also available on the web at
http://www.census.ac.uk/casweb/. A Campus ID and password are
required.
