In order to ensure that we are well informed about
which ebooks are available and which best
meet our needs here at Newcastle, the Library will be
organising trial access to as many collections as we
can over the coming months.
The trials are not a guarantee that we will be able to purchase the collections, but they will allow us all to evaluate them and gain feedback from academic staff about their relevance.
Oxford Scholarly Editions on trial
We have trial access to this new collection, which contains the full text of over 170 annotated scholarly editions of works written between 1485 and 1660, including the complete works of Shakespeare. Various search options are available.
You can access the trial here.
Please send your feedback on this trial to Lucy Keating, thank you.
American newspapers on trial
The Library has arranged trial access to three collections of American historical newspapers until 1st March 2013.
Proquest Historical newspapers
Contains nearly 30 million digitised pages from 1764 to 2010, including titles such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post, as well as nine key Black newspapers.
Newsbank's America's Historical Newspapers provides access to two collections:
- 20th-Century American Newspapers covers a selection of historically significant and regionally diverse US newspapers between 1923 and the 1990s
- Early American newspapers covers the period from 1690-1922, with nearly 1,500 titles from all 50 states
Please send your feedback on these trials to Lucy Keating
The trial ends on 28th February 2013
