Newcastle University Linguistics Society, bringing together undergraduate and postgraduate students and staff across CRiLLS in a variety of activities:
Regular Social Events
We hold events approximately monthly, with discounts for members. Our first event was a Pub Quiz but we would like to hear feedback from our members about what they would like to do! Some ideas include: a theatre trip, ice skating, movie nights, museum visits.
Raise Money for Charity
This year LingSoc are supporting I CAN through numerous fundraising events. The charity supports children with communication disorders. See what they do here: www.ican.org.uk. For each person who joins LingSoc here: https://apps.ncl.ac.uk/clubs-societies we will donate £1 to I CAN.
Every Wednesday, all members are invited to drop in and have their lunch in the student common room, 1st floor Percy Building at 1pm to chat to friends and colleagues in an informal social setting. We will provide as many free drinks and snacks as possible!
Language of the Month Taster Sessions
The society will have a Language of the Month, and members will be able to attend a free taster session of this language accompanied by free themed food!
