Language Variation and Change
Overview
The Language Variation and Change (LVC) SIG is aimed at both staff and postgraduate sociolinguists, corpus linguists and historical linguists who are interested in linguistic variability (both regional and social) and language change.
Membership
Anybody with an interest in any of the research areas listed above is welcome to attend the sessions. Please feel free to come along or contact Nick Roberts for more information.
Meeting purpose
The LVC group aims to provide a platform for the discussion of methodological, conceptual and practical issues related to the study of language variation and how this relates to language change. It also provides a forum for members to present ongoing research, identify potential research collaborations, host guest speakers and receive training in new research methods and techniques.
Programme
Meetings are participant-driven and members are invited to suggest topics, and act as chair, for future meetings. An up-to-date programme, along with dates, times and venues, can be found on this webpage.
