Placements and work-based learning

Placements are integrated into a number of degree programmes at Newcastle University and support and guidance is available for those interested in developing new placement opportunities. The University's Work-Based and Placement Learning Policy provides policy and guidance for the following types of placement activity:

  • Year and semester-long placements (including the Careers Service Placement Year)Students from the School of Arts and Cultures on a placement at the Hatton Gallery
  • Module length or short-term placements
  • Postgraduate Research placements

The Placements website provides information on the following aspects of work-based or placement learning activity:

  • programme and module development
  • placement approval
  • safety and legal issues
  • quality assurance and monitoring arrangements
  • learning and teaching processes and practice
  • sources of support and guidance
