MAST Library

Henri Kummerman Marine Resource Centre (MAST Library): Our School funds its own specialist technical library and archive.

Materials in stock include current and historical textbooks, magazines & journals, conferences, regulations, design rules, theses & final projects, trade literature, databases, directories & registers, etc. We co-operate closely with the NUL in the development of materials and resources.

Search MAST Library catalogue for materials in stock and hyperlinks to other resources. Together with guidance on their content and use. Reading lists for every module are generated from this and given to our students.

Opening hours: Semester time, usually Monday-Friday 1100-1500. Vacation time, usually Tuesday & Thursday 1100-1500

Research Skills/Information Literacy: Our School has an extensive programme of teaching for students, partly based on materials in the MAST Library. Subjects include literature search & retrieval; literature review & presentation; report writing; public speaking; research project planning & management; libraries & databases; e-journals; statistical analysis methods; modelling & simulation software. To improve student abilities for independent research, decision making, and communication skills:

  • for their course work assignments
  • and in particular for their final projects/theses
  • and hence their employability (Employers rank these abilities very highly!)

Location: Armstrong Building, 2nd floor, up back staircase.
