The Dove Marine Laboratory participates in 'The Shore Thing' - a scientific survey to establish the distribution and abundances of rocky shore organisms.
Local school groups and volunteer community groups are carrying out their own surveys, and the project is been managed by staff in the Marine Life Information Network (MARLIN) at the Marine Biological Association in Plymouth.
The Dove Marine Laboratory is assisting and co-ordinating the project in the north-east region. This information will then be fed into a nationwide database, hopefully providing scientists with valuable information on changes in intertidal habitats connected to climate change.
For further information, please visit The Shore Thing website.
