Splashdown Summer School

Summer school for Key Stages 2

The marine environment is the most extensive ecosystem on our planet. We rely on it for food, for transport, and for tourism and leisure.

We look to it increasingly as a source of renewable energy andDownload the Splashdown Poster here for compounds that can be used in medicine and biotechnology.

In this week-long summer school you will investigate the animals and plants that inhabit our oceans. You will be able to explore marine life at first-hand on local rocky shores, in the University's aquarium and by using microscopes. You will also consider the importance of our seas to humans and how the design of ships can have implications for the costs of goods that we import. You will have the opportunity to carry out your own mini-research project. Join in the fun this summer. Games, new friends and art activities included.
