Choosing Newcastle
I chose Newcastle University based on its reputation, and I love it even more than I thought I would. It is a lovely place, full of smiling lecturers and students.
The city
Newcastle is safe and friendly. It's a place in which one can live, study, work, shop, and play, all with stunning and interesting views! In my spare time I meet with like-minded people who also do research and talk about life, research progress, developing nations and everything else.
The nightlife of the Newcastle is a busy one, with countless clubs and pubs to choose from and enjoy as well as many great concerts and gigs. It is fun after a hard day of study. I have also done an MSc in Kent but I can now say that Newcastle is one of the most happening and interesting places in Europe!
Choosing postgraduate study
I have been a project engineer of various engineering (and GIS) projects ranging from developing concept plan to execution, as well as all stages of projects from outline concepts, surveys, assessments and presentations, through manual or computer aided detail design, contract documentation and management of environmental and engineering construction projects. I chose my research degree due to the relentless rise in recent years of oil prices! Now is the best time to pursue a higher degree!
Studying at Newcastle
My study is very interesting, and the library and the computer facilities are wonderful. As part of my course I have attended some taught classes, and they are always interesting and so are the tutors. The research and skills training at the University is outstanding, and my school has some of the top lecturers in the UK for marine research.
I have enjoyed being a postgraduate student as it is fun, and I have had the opportunity to study at a higher level and ‘re-think’ better approaches to problems.
Studying at Newcastle is an inestimable experience. It is a great University. Mixing with lots of people in Newcastle has been very fascinating, especially as an international student. I highly recommend the University to others, especially international students.
