The programme is designed for graduate engineers and is designed to produce master’s graduates with a well-founded knowledge and understanding of marine engineering, marine systems and the practical application of engineering on marine structures.
You take a selection of taught modules (100 credits) and undertake a research project and dissertation (80 credits).
Compulsory modules (70 credits) include:
• research skills
• marine power transmission
• marine machinery systems
• ship performance at sea
• ship propulsion
• marine electrical power systems
• marine electrical propulsion
• optimal marine design
• marine electro-technology
• data analysis and interpretation
• marine management technology II
• surveying ships and offshore installations
• marine transport and economics

Normally an upper-second class Honours degree, or equivalent, in engineering or another relevant subject. Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 90 (Internet-based) or 577 (paper-based), or equivalent.
