This programme is aimed at graduate engineers who wish to specialise in design, analysis and operation of power systems on offshore structures and the specialised ships and systems that operate in the offshore field.
Course Content
You take a selection of taught modules (100 credits) and undertake a research project and dissertation (80 credits).
Compulsory modules (70 credits) include:
• marine machinery systems
• marine electrical power systems
• marine electric propulsion
• ship propulsion
• advanced offshore design
• research skills
• marine power transmission
Optional modules (30 credits) include:
• dynamics of offshore installations
• offshore engineering application
• marine electro-technology
• marine management technology
• optimal marine design
• surveying ships and offshore installations

Entry Requirements
Normally an upper-second class Honours degree, or equivalent, in engineering or another relevant subject. Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 90 (Internet-based) or 577 (paper-based), or equivalent.
