Originally from Whitley Bay I went to university in Stirling to study Aquaculture (BSc and MSc). After graduating from Stirling Univeristy I worked at the UK's first commercial Cod hatchery in Machrihanish, Scotland. I moved back to Newcastle when I took the post of Teaching and Aquarium Technician on August 1st 2004.
I am responsible for the operation of the marine research aquarium in the Ridley Building; consisting of 4 recirculation systems and 2 constant temperature rooms. I also assist in the design and running of research projects for final year undergraduates and other school research in the aquarium. I am also a deckhand on the research vessel Bernicia.
