Small Craft Technology BEng or MEng Honours

UCAS code: H520 (H524 MEng)
Duration: 3 years (4 years MEng)

This degree has been developed in response to the upsurge in the leisure boat market.

From small dinghies to luxury cruisers and racers, the increasing variety of high-speed passenger craft and work boats, combined with demand from industry, all indicate a healthy demand for a greater number of technically-qualified graduates. Many students are attracted to naval architecture or marine technology through their interest in sailing.

Our students take common modules for Stage 1 of all our Marine Technology programmes. Stage 2 involves the study of special aspects of small craft technology, including the use of composite materials, integrated mast/sail design and high speed propulsion.

As Stage 2 is the same for BEng and MEng courses, it is possible to transfer to the MEng at this point.
