Overseas Module

Overseas Module

We believe that all our students should have the opportunity to experience other cultures and travel widely, so we have developed the Overseas Module for the vacation period between Stage 2 and Stage 3 of our Marine Biology degrees.

Students, usually traveling in groups, adopt the role of a scientific journalist and spend some time at a location of their choice investigating local problems of biological interest. Many choose to take advantage of the contacts they make and prolong their visits at institutions around the world.

Previous examples of studies and locations have included:

  • Dolphin studies at Plettenberg, South Africa
  • Atlantic Whales in Tenerife
  • Aquarium at Monterey
  • Turtle Conservation in Oman
  • Economy vs environment in Indonesia
  • Following dugongs in Australia
