The project aims to investigate the role of PY neurons in the dynamical behaviour of the crab STG. We will use simultaneous voltage-sensitive dye imaging, and intra- and extra-cellular recording to collect data about the STG and its neurons. In particular we will aim to characterise late and early PY neurons and test the hypothesis that these neurons switch their roles depending on the dynamic activity context of the STG (i.e. the spatio-temporal activity pattern of STG neurons).
