Pure Mathematics
A range of research interests are covered in Pure Mathematics. These are grouped into

Seminars and networks
- We have two weekly Newcastle based seminars, covering `Functional Analysis' and `Algebra and Geometry'. About three times a term we put on a more general colloquium.
- We are active members of 3 regional seminar series, the North British Functional Analysis Seminar, the North British Geometric Group Theory Seminar and Algebra and Representation Theory in the North, all of which are funded by the London Mathematical Society. The NBGGT seminar is corrdinated from Newcastle, and is also funded by EMS.
- We are a node in the EPSRC funded Semantics of Quantum Computation network. Duncan is a founding member of the international Algebraic Cryptography Consortium, and Jorgensen is an associate member of the Danish funded network Algebraic and Analytic Lie Theory.
