Cypriot students visit the School

Seven students from The Grammar School in Nicosia, Cyprus, recently visited the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics

Seven students from The Grammar School in Nicosia, Cyprus, visited the School of Maths, Stats and Physics between 23rd-26th August. The students are currently in Year 12/13, are taking Maths and Further Maths at A level, and are hoping to study in Newcastle when they complete their A levels in Cyprus. Dr Lee Fawcett, who has been helping to build ties between Newcastle and several high schools in Cyprus, organised the event, with the support of Wendy Ridley from International Recruitment.

The students attended a series of lectures and hands-on sessions in exciting topics in Pure Maths, Applied Maths and Statistics, as well as interactive campus and city tours. They were joined by their teacher, Miss Emilia Strati, a Maths graduate from Newcastle herself. The students are also taking part in a summer project with our School.

We hope to see some of you at Newcastle in September 2018!
