Research and Intercalated Study

Research opportunities for Medical Students at Newcastle

Research Opportunities
for Medical Students

Newcastle Medical School has an excellent reputation for Research and provides a number of opportunities for undergraduate students to get involved. The Academic Medicine Society led by students, but supported by key research staff provide advice and guidance as well as helping students forge the necessary links to be able to explore their chosen subject in greater detail.

Intercalated study involves an additional year of study which can be undertaken after the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year. Although all three groups of students may intercalate to a BSc degree, it is only those who wish to intercalate after the 3rd or 4th year who can intercalate to a Master’s degree or MPhil.

After completing the extra year, you will resume your medical studies.
