Dr Tom Joyce has been promoted to a personal Readership in Biotribology in recognition of his significant research and teaching achievements. The promotion comes into effect on 1st August 2010.
Dr Joyce’s research is in human joint replacement, with particular emphasis on the tribology (wear) of such joints. His contribution to teaching excellence was recently recognised when he was selected to receive the Vice-Chancellor’s Distinguished Teacher Award for 2010, and he is also a finalist for the Higher Education Academy Engineering Subject Centre 2010 Teaching Award.
