School sponsors Greenpower electric car event
Newcastle University was the main sponsor of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers NE Greenpower Event which took place last Wednesday at Croft racing circuit near Darlington.
The event, which encourages young people to become engaged with science and engineering through motorsport, attracted 24 teams from schools across the region in competition to race their electric car designs round the Croft circuit.
The School of Mechanical and Systems Engineering at Newcastle University contributed sponsorship money for the event and our Head of School, Dr John Appleby, presented the prizes. The photograph shows Dr Appleby with some of the competing students from George Stephenson High School in Killingworth.
