Rapid and reliable measurements of critical properties in multiphase flows of engines (e.g., temperature, mixture formation, and soot concentration) are highly desirable, and yet challenging. This research develops visualization technologies to address such important measurement needs. Based on the visualization technology, the researcher can observe the process in the cylinder, understand the mechanism of combustion and examine the results of CFD.
He Xu is an Associate Professor with the School of Mechanical Engineering at Beijing Institute of Technology, China. After completing his PhD in 2005 he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Tsinghua University until taking up his present post in Beijing. His research interests cover laser diagnostics of the combustion process in the cylinder; biofuel design and application; and optical engine, combustion bomb and burner design.
