Introduction

Ross Jackson joined the Rail Freight and logistics group in April as a Research Assistant. Ross graduated with an MSc in Transport Engineering & Operations at Newcastle University before working as a transport planner between 2008 and 2010, with multidisciplinary engineering consultancy AECOM, based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Ross is currently heavily involved in the European Commission FP7 Spectrum project. Spectrum aims to develop solutions and processes to enhance the competitivness of freight transport by rail, in unexploited markets. The project commenced in May 2011 for a duration of 48 months and brings together 22 partners from throughout Europe.
