4. Communications

4.1  Notice-boards

Notice-boards are used for day-to-day communication of information to all students, for example on changes to timetables, tutorial or practical groups, etc. You should therefore ensure that you check notice-boards each day. Information on notice-boards is taken as having been seen by you unless you have notified your tutor that you are absent. The locations of the key notice-boards are given in Table 4.1. There are additional notice-boards which display other information including University Society events, employment opportunities and general University announcements.

University Student Notices, Careers, Sponsorship, Vacation Experience, Postgraduate and Employment Opportunities Stephenson Ground Floor corridor, outside G8

4.2  E-mail

We communicate information to students by e-mail and you should check your university e-mail daily in term time. It is not possible for us to cope with large numbers of personal e-mail addresses. You must use your Newcastle e-mail for all university communications.

4.3  Submission of Assignments

All written work for MEC modules which is to be marked must be handed in to the School Office by 3.00pm on or before the last date for submission, unless directed/instructed otherwise. This applies to all Stages and courses.

To submit coursework for MEC you must print a coursework submission sheet from NESS. This will be scanned when you submit your work and a receipt e-mailed to you.

After marking, you will be informed when your work will be available for collection from the School Office.

Service courses (modules with other than MEC codes) may have their own different submission arrangements which you must check with the Module Leader.

4.4  Questionnaires

At various times throughout your course, you will be asked to complete questionnaires relating to various aspects of the degree programme. Your response helps us to ensure that we are maintaining our standards of delivery and also allows us to take remedial action as and when necessary. Please treat these questionnaires seriously and thereby help us to help you.
