Medical undergraduate studentAs well as contributing to the MBBS programme at Newcastle University, the School develops and delivers a wide range of regional and national training events and programmes designed to improve the skills of those with a teaching or training role, students, and healthcare professionals.

Our education and training activity includes:

  • national staff development workshops from the Subject Centre on topics such as standard setting, curriculum maps, student complaints, and clinical rotations
  • local staff development workshops from our staff development team on topics such as active learning, communication skills, giving effective feedback, small group teaching and student centered learning
  • bespoke communication skills workshops from roleplaynorth communication skills on topics such as breaking bad news, dealing with anger/coping with conflict and smoking cessation
  • online, practical and interactive information communication and technology workshops covering standard IT applications.
