Iridium is a JISC funded collaborative project between the Research Office, University Library, ISS, Digital Institute and MEDEV, SMSED. The project aims, in consultation with researchers, to make recommendations for a holistic plan and infrastructure for the management of research data in the University. It has distinct outputs of making data generated by research both available and discoverable (in line with Research Council wishes) and to ensure effective curation throughout the full data lifecycle.
In order to assess the requirements of researchers, the project will be contacting selected staff throughout March to request short face-to-face interviews to discuss the challenges faced in handling research data. In addition to this, a short online questionnaire will also be distributed to research active academic staff. Responses will then be used to inform the development of future policies, tools and systems.
The project is due for completion in March 2013. For more information on the project and its outputs please see the project website (http://research.ncl.ac.uk/iridium) or contact the project manager lindsay.wood@ncl.ac.uk.
