Celebratory Lunchtime Event
Date/Time: Wednesday, 8th March 2017, 12:45 - 14:30
Venue: The Courtyard Dining Room, Research Beehive
This year's theme for International Women's Day on 8th March is Be Bold for Change.
We want to recognise and celebrate the work that staff and students, men and women, do around the University to promote and advance gender parity.
We are asking you to stop for a moment, and think about someone you know who you think has made a difference. As a staff member, this could be someone you work with, a member of your team, or someone you teach or supervise. Students may wish to nominate a fellow student, or a member of staff who has supported them during their programme of study.
We are looking for ways in which individuals have made a difference within their sphere of influence, ranging from a small group of friends or colleagues to the whole University. For example, has someone you know:
- Taken positive action to challenge discrimination or unconscious bias?
- Campaigned for anything relating to gender equality?
- Had a positive effect in their workplace or programme of study by promoting equality, and if so, how?
- Supported the integration of international female students?
All nominees will be invited to attend a celebratory event on International Women's Day and receive a free goody bag. They will also be invited to be part of our Be Bold for Change campaign, where their achievements will be celebrated on the University's media screens and social media.
Please use the online form to nominate yourself or someone else by 5:00 pm on Friday 17th February 2017.
