For the first time the Newcastle University Institute for Ageing will transform its corridors into exhibition space for a celebration of artwork by older people living in care.
Date/Time: 12th October 2016 - 16th December 2016, 09:00 - 16:00 weekdays
Venue: Biomedical Research Building, Campus for Ageing and Vitality
At the Campus for Ageing and Vitality’s Biomedical Research Building, artwork that has been produced by residents of care homes across the north east will be on show to the public and members of the University.
The exhibition, which is part of Equal Arts’ HenPower Project, gave residents the opportunity to not only engage with the practice of art, but it also encouraged communication; allowing residents to engage with new people and with each other.
The exhibition, will include; paintings on paper and canvas, drawings, textiles, collage, multi-media, mosaic, poetry and creative storytelling, is a visual display of the artists’ new connections, the past, and with each other.
