Newcastle University Research Fellowships

Develop your independent research career at Newcastle University.

A Newcastle University Research Fellowship (NURF) is for early to mid research career scientists. A NURF can give you up to 5 years funding to develop your independent research activities. You will have access to our excellent scientific facilities and laboratory space. Mentoring by our leading experts will support your transition to externally funded research leader.

Eligibility 

  • PhD in the subject area
  • outstanding publication record
  • relevant active post-doctoral experience
  • eligible for external funding

Faculty Fellowships

Flexible awards for early stages post-doctoral researchers who plan to apply for externally funded fellowships.

A Faculty Fellowship is for early career scientists. It can give you 2 years funding, with the possibility of an extension to 3 years based on performance, to develop a research idea and secure external fellowship funding.

Eligibility

  • PhD in the subject area in the last 5 years
  • strong publication record
  • eligible for externally funded fellowship awards
