To provide students with the fundamental knowledge needed to study biological and medicinal chemistry; to introduce the main classes of biological macromolecule; to introduce concepts of medicinal chemistry and toxicology.

Assessment Rationale And Relationship

The examination assesses the students' knowledge and understanding of the fundamental biological and medicinal chemistry presented in the lecture courses. Factual knowledge and understanding is also assessed in workshop exercises where lecture material is at hand. Problem solving and numeracy skills are assessed primarily through workshop assessments.
