Medical Toxicology Centre

Founded in January 2008, establishment of the Medical Toxicology Centre follows a joint initiative between the Health Protection Agency and Newcastle University in 2006.

Our primary objective is to develop an international centre of expertise in toxicology to fill the national capability gap and undertake a program of specific research with direct relevance to human toxicology.

The strategic aims of MTC are to address:

  • biomarkers of exposure and health effects
  • genetic susceptibility and variability
  • chronic and delayed health effects
  • clinical research
