Facilities

Wolfson Research UnitThe majority of our people and facilities are based in the Wolfson Unit, although we also have people and laboratories in the Medical School and the Devonshire Building.

Our state of the art facilities funded by the Health Protection Agency, include:

  • an analytical chemistry suite complete with inducting coupled plasma
  • triple quadruple, ion trap and single quadruple mass spectrometers coupled to gas and liquid chromatography
  • a behavioral testing suite complete with automated tracking systems, arenas and mazes
  • an imaging laboratory with a fluorescent microscope and electrochemiluminescence detector

Through collaborations with our colleagues in Newcastle University Institutes and Research Groups including the Psychobiology Research Group and the Drug and Chemical Toxicity Research Group, we also have access to a wide variety of additional techniques and expertise.
